Dr. Fotabe's Girls in STEM scholarship Program

Education

Dr. Fotabe's Girls in STEM Scholarship aims to support and encourage young women to pursue studies and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). First launched in 2022, this scholarship program has already awarded scholarships to twelve deserving girls.

About the Scholarship Program:

Dr. Fotabe, the founder and Board Chair of Fotabe University of Cameroon, launched this scholarship program to address vital needs and foster substantial benefits. She identified the promotion of STEM education among girls as essential for driving innovation, economic growth, and gender equity. By encouraging girls to pursue STEM fields, the program aims to reduce gender disparities and promote equality, which in turn enriches the talent pool and contributes to economic development.

Furthermore, Dr. Fotabe highlighted that diverse perspectives in STEM lead to more innovative solutions and significant advancements in healthcare and technology. Women's contributions in these fields can result in groundbreaking developments, including solutions for global sustainability. Additionally, promoting STEM education among women helps to address workforce shortages by meeting the demand for skilled professionals in critical areas. This comprehensive approach underscores the importance of women's participation in STEM for a more sustainable and equitable future.
