My name is Carine Nchia Fonjie. I am an alumnus of Fotabe University/Rome Business School. I studied Masters' in International Human Resources Managment. I work as HR and Administrative Manager for ROFF SECTOR, a construction firm based in Limbe, Cameroon. In my spare time, I volunteer in the community to help young women and girls achieve rewarding and fulfilling careers, live a healthier, balanced, happier, and Stress-Free Life. I do this through a community organization that I founded, Working Women's Circles. I use Working Women's Circles as a platform to give back to my community.
Every year, Working Women's Circles joins other organizations to raise awareness for breast cancer. After last year's breast cancer awareness campaign in October 2018, I decided to carry out small research online on how to limit the risk of breast cancer in women. That was when I discovered that according to Ecowatch, Medical News Today and New Times Of India consuming Okra regularly may help prevent breast cancer. This is because Okra contains a protein called LECTIN which is linked with fighting breast cancer. It is also said that Okra has the capacity to inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells in humans by up to 63%. As a breast cancer awareness activist, I found this piece of information interesting and decided I was going to invest in the production and supply of okra not only to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women but also to help eradicate hunger and malnutrition.
Since Okra is a perishable and seasonal vegetable in Cameroon I decided to transform it in its powder form so as to eradicate the problem of perishability and also so that I can be able to supply Okra even when it's in and out of season. That is how, 'Capop's Okra Powder' was born.
