2020 Message to the Educational Community by the President of FUNIC Cameroon

Type: Speeches

Dear faculty, students, alumni, and well-wishers of FUNIC Cameroon,

It is a great honor for me to wish you well as you kick start your professional, academic, and personal exploits this 2020. This year, we are looking forward to exciting and important milestones as we begin work towards the implementation of our 2020-2025 Strategic Vision: Embracing Partnerships and redefining the future.

The goals embodied in this five-year vision are a reflection of the hopes and dreams of all the men and women who love and work hard for this beautiful institution. The vision will drive each of us in our daily interactions and collaborative efforts to selflessly serve current and future generations of young people in this country and continent.

Let me take this opportunity to announce the strategic partnership between FUNIC Cameroon and GreenHouse ventures. This very important partnership will make it possible for us to spread our reach to important areas of economic growth such as Agricultural Entrepreneurship and the transfer of technology.

In the days ahead, we shall be announcing other important partnerships.

Last year, we made great strides that set us apart as one of the most progressive educational establishments in Cameroon. The following areas stood out:

Educational Innovation:

FUNIC Cameroon has always been at the forefront of innovation in the educational environment of Cameroon. Last year saw the launching of our second unique learning model- the moTor learning model. Through this model, our students are learning and contextualizing the business models of the Igbo and Bamileke people. After only a few months since its implementation, the results have been tremendous. This model follows behind the SEA-Skills, Experience, and Attitude model which last year, transformed the lives of many Cameroonians.

The African fashion industry is attracting the global community. At FUNIC Cameroon, we are preparing young men and women to take advantage of this trend. Last year, under our African Arts Academy, we launched a Fashion Business Management program aimed at raising a new generation of Fashion Entrepreneurs.

Global reach:

Last year, our programs attracted students from Togo and Nigeria. This is evidence that our educational solutions touch on the issues faced by people across this beautiful continent. We are more determined to push our brand beyond our territorial boundaries, to become a truly global university.

Community giving:

FUNIC Cameroon can be termed a community Institution. Our mission has always been to build stronger communities. Last year, we did great in this regard. We awarded scholarships to the amount of more than 30 million francs CFA, bringing the total of scholarships we’ve awarded since we opened our doors to above 230 million Francs CFA. These scholarships have not only transformed lives, but have brought hope to millions of people across the country.

An important milestone for us last year was the launch a social Entrepreneurship program for people with disabilities.

We also brought together 80 young people who were trained in Ethical Entrepreneurial Leadership, through the Entrepreneurial Leadership Forum.

With the institutional support of the Ministries of Higher Education and Small and Medium Sized enterprises, we launched the first edition of FUNHIC’s Agricultural Entrepreneurship Community program, through which 30 young people are currently studying the HND program for FREE.

Strategic Partnerships

Last year, our partnership with the Good Ocean Maritime Institute of Logistics in Dubai consolidated our position as the leading Institution specializing in Logistics education.

Through Our partnership with the Rome Business School, we were able to train world class managers, 30 of whom we graduated last year.

Because of the amazing work of all our team members, we entered a beautiful partnership with the British High Commission to train 80 young people from all over the country to become ethical leaders.

Student success:

What has given us the reputation as the leading Entrepreneurial Leadership School is the success of our students in all their spheres of interest. While we registered a hundred percent success at the June 2019 Higher National Diploma national examinations, we have also seen some of our students becoming Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurs, and others making their mark in their organizations- MTN, ORANGE, NEXTTEL, UBA bank, and many others.

The Future of FUNIC Cameroon

Due to the work of so many, FUNIC Cameroon is poised for limitless opportunity and future success — success that is only possible due to the dedication and passion of individuals who devote themselves to the ideals and mission of our beloved university. Without question, FUNIC Cameroon will make history within and beyond the boundaries of this country. With the implementation of Embracing Partnerships and redefining the future, there is no limit to what the future holds and what we can achieve together as one big FUNIC family.

FUNIC Cameroon’s commitment to embrace partnerships and redefine its future stands tall and shines bright despite the challenges ahead. With this strategic vision always in our minds, we shall be well positioned to overcome challenges and seize opportunities that will make an even greater difference for all within its reach.

I want to express my sincere appreciation and lasting gratitude to those who have, in one way or another, contributed to the successes that we have registered thus far. I think of our partners, our trainers, our students, parents, our alumni, our families, and our online communities.

We have come a long way! We have overcome many challenges, we have explored many ways to solve specific issues, but above all, we have continued to extend our learning bandwidth. These lessons will guide us through 2025 as we get ready to redefine the future of FUNIC Cameroon.
